Integrated Services Architecture

Integrated Services Architecture
Abbreviated ISA. A proposed extension to the Internet standards that would provide integrated services in support of real-time applications over the Internet.
Using current standards, real-time applications do not work well over the Internet because of variable and unpredictable queuing delays and other losses. To solve this problem, ISA suggests that routers be able to reserve resources for specific data streams called flows. A flow might be video data from a source to a destination or from a source to multiple destinations.
